Tifereth 1

Day 1: Space and Performativity

Part 1. Space as Emotional Bubble

When we refer to space in a rope scene, what we are often referring to specifically is the combination of mood, intention and time. Controlling these factors leads to controlling the feeling of the bubble of space between you and your partner, as well as the bubble surrounding your partner and an audience. In this workshop we’ll explore building and maintaining difference kinds of space through controlling mood, intent and timing with our bodies and our ropes.

Part 2. The Space We Work In

Space can also refer to the physical space surrounding our partner. In this workshop we’ll explore all the ways we can understand and utilize our rigging space. Thinking about planes of movement, the differences in the experiences of lifting into a space vs lowering, and engineering the sensation of being flawlessly controlled in space. As we gain command over our use of the voids we work in, we gain confidence in developing physically and aesthetically appealing sequences.

Day 2: Rhythm and Performativity

Part 1. Rhythm as Mood

Rhythm is how time is used, as we will have seen in our explorations of space, time can be a powerful tool in our efforts to influence mood, intent and space. In this workshop we with explore controlling both the rhythm of our tying and the rhythm of the scene to influence our partner’s experience of the rope. We will also cover ways of gaining better control of our rope through efficiency and flow drills.

Part 2. Exploring Rhythm and Choreography

As we advance our rope practices often we begin to think about tying for performances. In this class we will cover ways of exploring rhythm to build choreography. We’ll cover tying to music, thinking about the rhythm of the shapes and their effect on both our model and the audience, and using our command of space and timing to craft an engrossing sequence.

About Tifereth

Tifereth's introduction to rope bondage (and the fetish community) came over 6 years ago in the form of a surprisingly enjoyable futomomo tsuri. Since then she's drawn on her dual background in high-performance athletics and figurative arts to push herself physically and aesthetically on both ends of the rope. Known for her dynamic style of sadism, performative rope and creative approach to harness construction, she loves conveying her passion through engaging hands-on methods of instruction. A veteran educator and performer with credits including Prague Shibari Festival, Bondage Expo Dallas, Eurix, Helsinki Shibari, Shibaricon and more, she is most often found wherever the weird stuff is.
